The area in Windsor where he lived for several years wasknown as "Wales" because of his and his neighbors nationality. He mayhave come to Windsor as early as 1640, but it is not known for sure asthe early records were lost.

In1663 he had land interest in Hommonoscett, a newly founded settlementlater called Killingsworth. In 1666 he was appointed Sexton of theMetting House. On February 15, 1668 he was paid by the town for clapboarding the metting house. In 1670 he moved to a lot granted him at thelower end of Strawberry Meadow on the Farmington River, across fromPoqunock. During King Philips Was (1675 0 1676) he like many others, took refuge in the village and after the war donated 1 shilling forrepairs for Simsbury. In 1680 he and others petitioned the HartfordCourt "to grant them all those lands of the east of the ConnecticutRiver". In 1695 and 1697 he gave some of his lands to his sons Obadiahand Issac.
